Virals
By Kathy Reichs
I recently read the book Virals
by Kathy Reichs. Despite my initial doubts, it was really good. Even
though…the author, well, she wrote every sentence, every paragraph,
to create…
Suspense.
Like seriously at least 1/3 of the
whole book were sentences less than 5 words! Anyway the cover said
something like…if you are a fan of Maximum Ride then
you’ll love Virals… and I totally did! Genetically mutated
14 year olds, a group of friends called a pack, as well as short and
suspenseful sentences (as before mentioned). But, if I DARE say, I
like the first Virals book more than the first Maximum Ride
book.
Now that you’ve heard me talk about
my opinion (everyone is screaming “GET ON WITH THE STORY
ALREADY!!!”) I’ll tell you a short summary of of the beginning
(don’t worry I’m anti-spoilers so I won’t say anything that
wouldn’t be on the back of a dust jacket). So basically the heroine
of the story, 14 year old Tory, is a misfit teen who loves science
(remind you of anyone?). One day her and her three guy-friends ferry
over to an island looking for wolves on an island of monkeys
(yeah…there’s no good way to explain that…).

I liked that you made the book comparison. Do you think this would be a good book for discussion?
